Accessibility
This prototype is built toward WCAG 2.1 AA. Here is what it supports and what has not been checked yet.
What is supported
- Keyboard use
- Every control can be reached with Tab and used with Enter, Space or the arrow keys. A skip link jumps to the main content, and focus moves to the page title when you change pages. Dragging students between groups has a “Move to…” menu as a keyboard alternative.
- Visible focus
- The control that has keyboard focus shows a clear outline.
- Screen reader support
- Pages use headings and landmarks. Inputs have labels, icon-only buttons have names, tables have captions, and sortable columns announce their sort order. Counts, saved changes and errors are announced.
- Charts with table alternatives
- Every chart has a short text summary and a “View as table” button that shows the same numbers.
- Meaning without color
- Tiers use a shape and the word “Tier”, status labels use an icon and text, and above or below the aim line is written out in words.
- Light and dark themes
- Follows your system setting, or you can choose Light or Dark in the top bar. Colors are chosen to meet WCAG 2.1 AA contrast in both.
- Reduced motion
- If your system asks for reduced motion, animations and smooth scrolling are turned off.
- Zoom and tablets
- Layouts reflow at 200% zoom and at tablet width, and buttons are larger on touch screens.
- Printing
- Meeting summaries, reports and the parent report print without menus or buttons.
What is not yet verified
- No formal accessibility audit has been done on this prototype.
- It has not been tested with people who use assistive technology, or across every screen reader and browser combination.
- Contrast was checked against the design colors, not measured on every screen and state.
A full audit is planned before any production release.
